Ultrasonic liposuction

Ultrasonic liposuction Liposuction is one of the methods of plastic surgery that removes extra fat from the body. The method is based on the principal of mechanic disruption of fat layer and its suction. The most often formed body parts are abdomen, buttocks, hips and thighs.

Liposuction is aimed mainly to those who have fat cushions in problem parts that are not possible to be removed though a diet or exercise. The advantage is when the patient has firm and elastic skin. The liposuction is in no case suitable for obesity treatment. There are also specific body parts that are forbidden (for example lower half of the buttocks). We have to take into account also final cosmetic effect!

Liposuction methods

If there is used a solution during the procedure we divide liposuction methods in dry and wet. According to used mechanism then on classic, vibration, laser and ultrasound. Classic method is based on inserting cannula in the fat tissue, on mechanic disruption and fat suction with the help of under pressure. During the ultrasound liposuction the fat tissue is disrupted with the help of ultrasonic waves. Another cannulas can form laser or vibration energy. The methods can eventually be combined.

Ultrasound liposuction

This treatment requires classic pre-surgical examination that is performed by particular general physician. Before the liposuction the patient has to visit the plastic surgeon for consultation, where all the details of the surgery are consulted and also the final price.

At least 6 hours before the surgery it is forbidden to eat, drink and smoke. The surgeon must consider elimination of some drugs, for example hormonal birth control, anopyrin etc.

Before the actual treatment the surgeon draws a place where the incision for the cannula is lead.

Ultrasound liposuction is performed under local or general anesthesia. Local anesthesia consists in infiltration of the place of treatment with the help of injection of local anesthetics only in a limited area. On the other hand general anesthesia effects central nervous system and eliminates all feelings and consciousness. Special form is tumescent anesthesia, there is used very concentrated solution of local anesthetics together with adrenalin. It is used as infiltration solution, it shrinks surrounding vessels and it prolongs anesthetics effect.

After the anesthesia the surgeon performs in the place above the fat tissue two to three skin incisions of four millimeters. Then a cannula is inserted and the fat is sucked out from the given place. During the ultrasound liposuction a special cannula is inserted into the fat tissue and the fat gets liquid through ultrasound waves. The cannula is also inserted to a device that creates under pressure and the liquid fat tissue is sucked out into the transparent can. There is controlled the amount of sucked tissue and its color inside the can, it shows the extent of bleeding during the treatment. The incisions are sewed with one suture after the termination, some surgeons do not sew them and just cover it sterilely. The whole ultrasound liposuction takes about an hour, it depends on the extent of sucked fat tissue. After the treatment performed under general anesthesia the hospitalization takes around two days, in case of local anesthesia the hospitalization is unnecessary. If a solution is used during the ultrasonic liposuction (so-called wet liposuction) it can leak out from the wound for several days. In case of sewed wounds the sutures are removed in 7 to 10 days. It is necessary to wear special compress underwear for ten days after the treatment. It reduces the swelling. If the area of liposuction is painful after the liposuction it is good to take analgesics (e.g. ibuprofen). Each surgeon invites the patient for check ups according to his/her consideration. The effect of the surgery is visible after fading of the swelling, i.e. in about 5 weeks.
